WORLD : 81 Drug Traffickers Hanged in Iran

TEHRAN — Eighty-one drug traffickers, including three Afghans and two women, were hanged in Tehran and 26 other Iranian cities and towns today, the official IRNA news agency reported.
It was the largest number of executions in a single day in the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, according to the report. The Islamic Revolution’s court announced that those hanged were involved in smuggling 5,107 kilos of opium, heroin, morphine and hashish while some had been involved in murder, armed robbery and gun running. The women were hanged in Tehran’s Qasr prison, while others were executed in public.
