Sandstorm Hits Gulf

MANAMA, Bahrain — A severe sandstorm struck the northern and central Persian Gulf on Friday, reducing visibility to a few hundred yards and disrupting airline flights in Kuwait and Bahrain. Sandstorms are common in the gulf, but residents said Friday’s was the severest in years.
