Three college basketball players were eliminated from finalist consideration for the annual John Wooden Award when they failed to meet the award’s criteria for carrying a 2.0 academic average.
They were Mookie Blaylock of Oklahoma, Pervis Ellison of Louisville and Chris Jackson of Louisiana State. The 12 finalists were announced Thursday, and the winner will be announced April 5.
