Local News in Brief : Men Arrested in Deaths of Unborn

Two Pomona men were in jail on suspicion of murder Monday in unrelated cases resulting in the death of unborn fetuses. An apparently accidental shooting resulted in the death of a near-term fetus in one case, and a woman who was three months pregnant miscarried after a domestic fight in the other, police said.
Anthony Coleman, 19, was arrested Sunday after Lillian Kelley, 16, who was nine months pregnant, was shot and seriously wounded, police said.
Coleman was trying to disarm a man playing with a .38-caliber revolver in an apartment when the pistol went off, wounding Kelley in the abdomen, officers said. She was in serious condition at Pomona Valley Community Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
In the second case, police arrested Armando Cisneros, 39, on Saturday after he allegedly knocked the woman with whom he lives to the ground, and she suffered a miscarriage.
Both men were held without bail on suspicion of murder. Police said it was likely that Cisneros would be charged with a lesser offense because murder charges can be filed only if the fetus would have been capable of surviving outside the womb.
