Budget restrictions will force the elimination of Yosemite National Park’s six horseback rangers and 15 of the 18 wilderness rangers this summer, a park official said. Assistant Supt. B.J. Griffith blamed the cutbacks on a recent 4% pay increase for the park’s staff. Griffith said an undetermined number of park interpreters or naturalists will also be eliminated.
