The World : Foes Keep Heat on Gandhi

Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s efforts to satisfy opposition demands by releasing a secret report on his mother’s assassination failed to end pressure from the opposition, which demanded more details of the report. It implicates an adviser to Rajiv Gandhi, but the government says he has been exonerated. Angry opposition leaders accused the government of withholding two of the five volumes of the report on Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s slaying in 1984. Home Minister Buta Singh said that the government withheld parts containing top-secret material and that the Speaker of Parliament will be given the full report.
