An early morning fire today gutted two apartments in an Anaheim apartment complex.
The fire broke out about 7:42 a.m. in the Tara Hills apartment complex in the 2100 block of West Crescent Avenue, said Anaheim City spokeswoman Barbara Burke. It began in a ground-floor apartment that was not occupied and quickly spread to the apartment above. Two residents there escaped unharmed.
Firefighters controlled the blaze in 23 minutes, Burke said. The complex is across the street from Anaheim Fire Station 2.
Two other apartments were slightly damaged in the fire, which caused about $80,000 in damage, Burke said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
