Fillmore Council Scraps Airport Plan

The Fillmore City Council this week scrapped a proposal to build a small industrial airport.
The idea had been raised last fall as a way to diversify the city’s farm economy, but Federal Aviation Administration officials have cast a dim eye on the proposal, council members learned at Tuesday’s meeting.
“The proposed economic analysis appears to be ineligible for federal participation,” FAA planner Howard Yoshioka wrote in a letter to city officials. “The overall cost of the project is excessive.”
A council vote to kill any further look at the idea was unanimous.
