Malibu : Emergency Copter Landing
A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter made an emergency landing at Pepperdine University Tuesday after the pilot reported engine trouble.
The chopper landed at Alumni Park, the grassy area in the front of the campus, shortly before noon. The two paramedics on board were on a training mission in the canyons 3,000 feet above the seaside campus, university public safety officials said.
“They just felt that for safety’s sake they should land it,” said Jeff Bliss, a university spokesman.
The helicopter was heading back to the coast when the pilot discovered the engine problem, officials said. The craft was scheduled to be repaired and moved Wednesday.
