A Seal Beach woman won $6.7 million in Saturday’s Lotto drawing, the California Lottery announced this morning.
Lenore Bentson is one of two Saturday winners. She purchased her ticket from the Jiffy Stop Market, 5871 Lampson Ave., Garden Grove. The other winner, who had not come forward as of this morning, purchased the lucky ticket from a store in Lancaster, said John Schade, a spokesman for the lottery.
Bentson and the Lancaster winner will each receive $6.76 million. Schade said each winner’s annual gross is $338,000 and, after taxes, the annual amount going to each for the next 20 years is $274,000.
Most Lotto winners claim their winnings within two days after the six winning numbers are drawn, but Schade said it is not unusual for people to wait several days. “We have two millionaire winners who never came forward,” Schade said. He said the money in those cases goes to the public schools, which, by state law, gets a minimum of one-third of lottery proceeds.
