A toddler was hit Tuesday by shattered glass when a reputed gang member fired gunshots into a car driven by the child’s mother, police said.
The 2-year-old child suffered minor cuts and was taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center following the shooting at 1:45 p.m. in South-Central Los Angeles, Police Sgt. Larry Manchester said.
The suspected gang member walked up to the car as it was stopped at Century Boulevard and Compton Avenue and fired at the car, Manchester said.
The mother and her child were not hit by the bullets, he said.
“It was done without provocation,” Manchester said of the shooting.
Officers searched the area for the gunman, who was known only by a common street gang name.
