JERUSALEM — Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir was hospitalized for tests today after he struck his head at home and doctors recommended a checkup, an aide said.
It was not clear whether Shamir, 73, will be released from Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital this evening or Thursday morning, Shamir spokesman Yosi Achimeier said.
Shamir walked into a piece of furniture in his Jerusalem home on Tuesday night, and “in the darkness, he hit his head,” Achimeier said. Doctors decided to examine him “to be safe,” Achimeier said.
Israel Radio reported doctors recommended the tests after Shamir said he felt weak.
