Senior right-hander Pam Fogg pitched a perfect game and also had the game-winning hit as Huntington Beach High School defeated Cypress, 1-0, in a Southern Section 5-A wild-card softball game Tuesday at Huntington Beach.
It was the first perfect game of Fogg’s high school career and her first no-hitter this season. Fogg (11-7) struck out six.
Huntington Beach scored in the fifth inning. Dana Ferdinand singled and April Crosby reached on a fielder’s choice, with Ferdinand beating the throw to second. Gina Corbin sacrificed both runners, and Fogg singled to right-center for the winning hit.
Huntington Beach (14-12) advances to play second-seeded Gahr on Friday in the first round. Cypress ends the season 10-16.
