Flames Destroy L.A.’s Historic Pan Pacific Auditorium
- Share via
The Pan Pacific Auditorium is gone but not forgotten. Let us keep the facade and restore it as a symbol of what was Los Angeles.
Now what? May I suggest that a competition be held for local artists, architects, and designers to design a simple skeletal structure to encompass the site. (No “Flying Clouds” over a freeway, which should be forgotten or built over the Los Angeles River.)
I envision an open-air structure through which the public could stroll. But please, no shopping malls, no food or vending machines, no music or entertainment. Just a place to stroll, relax and remember the past and think about the future.
It should truly interpret the name Pan Pacific. Pan meaning all , and Pacific meaning peaceful .
