Sam S. McKeel will join Sun-Times Co., a media holding company, as president and chief executive, effective June 19. In addition, Charles T. Price, acting publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times, has been promoted to publisher of the paper. McKeel, 62, had been with Knight-Ridder Inc. for 35 years, most recently as chairman and publisher of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News. Price, 45, was named acting publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times last August. Before that, he had been senior vice president and general manager of the paper. The announcements, by Sun-Times Co. Chairman Leonard P. Shaykin, solidify a shake-up last August that included a buyout of Robert E. Page, who was then publisher. Page earlier organized and spearheaded a leveraged buyout from Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch.
