French skier Christelle Guignard, a slalom silver medalist in the 1985 World Championships, was suspended one year for her positive drug test after finishing third in the giant slalom at the 1989 World Championships at Vail, Colo.
The sports newspaper, L’Equipe , said the International Ski Federation (FIS) refused to consider the French federation’s plea of “medical error.”
The French had said that Guignard did not feel well and had taken coramine glucose on the advice of a young federation doctor.
