Blame for Oil Spill in Alaska

According to the brief item (Part I, May 26), Exxon’s Valdez oil spill pollution disaster now has produced a condition of lawyer pollution that threatens to degenerate into a legal, economic and moral quagmire having a long-term malignant impact that may eclipse completely the tragic environmental consequences of the original outrage.
Presumably, as an item of saleable news, this obscenity no longer merits front-page treatment, probably because it no longer excites the very limited attention and interest endurance of the television-conditioned public in our country.
This fact must be a source of everlasting relief to Exxon executives and their lawyers, but hardly can be of much help and consolation to Exxon’s human victims or to the irreplaceable wildlife that was slaughtered by the greed and incompetence of these deceitful hypocrites.
