Deaths of Pair in Michigan Attributed to Lightning

HASTINGS, Mich. — Results of an autopsy Monday confirmed that a Kalamazoo-area couple found dead near Balker Lake in Barry Township were struck by lightning, authorities said.
Their bodies were found shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday about 20 yards from the shore of Balker Lake and near a boat containing fishing gear, deputies said. The pair, whose names were withheld until relatives could be notified, apparently died Friday, officials said.
