N. Y. Trooper Convicted of Raping Traffic Offender

BALLSTON SPA, N. Y. — A state trooper convicted of raping a motorist he had stopped for a traffic violation faces up to 25 years in prison. Robert O. Bennett Jr. was found guilty Thursday of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree coercion, unlawful imprisonment and official misconduct in the September, 1988, incident.
