Santa Paula 23, Moorpark 6--Quarterback Ben Fausset completed 16 of 35 for 172 yards and one touchdown, and Dustin Magdaleno ran for 124 yards and a touchdown in 11 carries as Santa Paula handed Moorpark (4-1) its first loss of the season.
The Santa Paula defense kept Moorpark’s Tony Upshaw out of the end zone, but he still rolled up 159 yards in 14 carries. Upshaw had 12 touchdowns entering the game.
Moorpark’s only score came on a 19-yard pass from Robert Hernandez to Jeff Cox in the second quarter. Turnovers stopped three Moorpark drives inside the Santa Paula 20, and Santa Paula (3-2) took advantage of two other turnovers to score touchdowns.
