Troy Roars Past Savanna, 33-21, Behind Windle

Gregg Windle threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns Friday night, propelling Troy to a 33-21 victory over Savanna before 500 spectators at Glover Stadium in Anaheim.
Windle threw both scoring passes during a 19-point second quarter that gave the Warriors a 26-7 halftime lead. The junior quarterback had completed 11 of 15 passes for 204 yards at halftime.
After Brent Coon opened the scoring for Troy (3-2) with a 45-yard run, Savanna (2-3) tied the score at 7-7 with a 10-play, 72-yard scoring drive.
Windle answered on Troy’s next possession with a 53-yard pass to Steve Friedrich. Chad Brasington added another touchdown five minutes later with a three-yard burst. Windle capped the first-half scoring with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Tim Hostetler.
Savanna scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns in the final seven minutes. Quarterback Carlos Robledo completed a 23-yard scoring pass to Leon Landry and, later, a 36-yard strike to Vince Flores. Landry also scored the Rebels’ first touchdown of the game with a one-yard run.
