First Chicago Corp.: The parent company of First National Bank of Chicago posted a third-quarter loss of $23.3 million after boosting its loan loss reserves by $200 million. In the same period a year ago, the Chicago holding company recorded a profit of $111.4 million. The firm also had a pretax gain of $60.4 million in the quarter from the sale of its First Chicago Investment Advisors N.A. unit.
