WORLD IN BRIEF - HUNGARY - Group Forms New Communist Party

In defiance of the ruling party’s recent conversion to a democratic socialist state, a fringe group of radical Marxist-Leninists has formed a new Communist party. Roland Antoniewitz, chairman of the new Janos Kadar Society, told reporters the new party was founded during an underground session of its central committee. The widow of Janos Kadar, who led Hungary’s Communist Party for 32 years, said Antoniewitz’s group adopted her husband’s name without her consent.
