CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF - IMPERIAL COUNTY - 2 Possible Sites for Prison Selected

The California Department of Corrections selected two sites as possible locations for a 2,200-bed state prison in Imperial County. The two are a 2,000-acre parcel of the Dixie Ranch, about 12 miles west of El Centro, and the 1,000-acre Mt. Signal parcel about seven miles west of Calexico. Public hearings will be held next spring.
