La Habra Defense Regroups and Paces 21-17 Victory

LA HABRA — La Habra High School’s defensive unit bounced back from last week’s 55-14 loss to Perris, leading the Highlanders to a 21-17 Freeway League victory over Buena Park at La Habra Stadium Friday night.
La Habra’s defense, which gave up 555 yards to Perris last week, held Buena Park to 57 yards in the second half to preserve the victory. La Habra is 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. Buena Park is 1-5 overall and 0-1 in league.
La Habra broke a 14-14 tie on a four-yard touchdown pass from Mark Moreno to Mark Brown on the last play of the first half.
Moreno was 10 of 14 for 89 yards and one touchdown. Brown was La Habra’s leading rusher with 116 yards in 21 carries.
After a 24-yard field goal by Hugo Melendez cut the La Habra lead to 21-17 in the third quarter, Buena Park had the ball in La Habra territory three more times but failed to score.
