COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Irvine Women Shut Out Chapman in Soccer

Tina Manfre and Katie Krall scored to lead UC Irvine to a 2-0 victory over Chapman College in a nonconference women’s soccer match at Chapman Friday.

Irvine is 4-7-3, Chapman is 4-6-2.

At the ITCA Regional tennis championships at UC Irvine:

Pepperdine’s doubles team of Janna Kovacevich and Kirsten Smith defeated Maggie Powers and Stacey Cadigan of UC Irvine, 6-1, 6-1, in second-round action.

In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:

Cal State Long Beach 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Tara Cross had 12 kills to lead Long Beach to a 15-1, 15-4, 15-4 sweep at home. Long Beach is 11-4, 4-4. Fullerton is 6-11, 1-7.

In Big West Conference men’s soccer:

Cal State Fullerton 2, Nevada Las Vegas 1--Junior Steve George scored both goals for host Fullerton (8-4-1, 2-2-1). Las Vegas is 7-7, 2-3.
