Quartz Hill 22, Antelope Valley 12--Senior quarterback Kendial Armstrong completed seven of 13 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown to lead Quartz Hill (3-3, 1-0) at Antelope Valley. The win was only the second for Quartz Hill in the 26-game series between the teams.
Quartz Hill tailback David Nelson led all rushers with 61 yards in 26 carries and opened the scoring with a 10-yard run in the second quarter.
Quartz Hill extended its lead to 15-0 at halftime on a 26-yard pass from Armstrong to split end Jesse Oggs late in the second quarter.
Antelope Valley (1-5, 0-1) cut the deficit to 15-6 in the fourth quarter on a seven-yard run by fullback David Whitson. The touchdown came four plays after linebacker Justin James recovered a fumble at the Quartz Hill 18.
