ANGEL NOTES : Exhibition Schedule Begins March 2 Against the Padres

ANAHEIM — The Angels will open their 1990 exhibition schedule March 2 against the San Diego Padres in Yuma, Ariz.
The Angels will play 14 games in Arizona, including two against the World Series champion Oakland Athletics (March 9 and 14) and one against the National League Champion San Francisco Giants (March 11).
The Angels will start the Palm Springs portion of their spring schedule March 17 with a 1 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Brewers in Angels Stadium. The Angels will play 12 games in Palm Springs, including two against the Athletics (March 20-21) and Giants (March 23-24).
Tickets for games in Palm Springs will be available through Ticketron beginning Feb. 17, or at the Angels Stadium ticket office in Palm Springs (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) beginning March 9. Prices are $5 for reserved seats and $4 for general admission.
Spring training will end with the Freeway Series against the Dodgers. The Dodgers will play host to the Angels March 30-31 at Dodger Stadium, and the Angels will play host on April 1 at Anaheim Stadium.
The Angels asked waivers on infielder Glenn Hoffman Wednesday for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
Hoffman, 31, joined the team as a free agent last January. During the 1989 season, he appeared in 48 games and had 22 hits in 104 at-bats for a .212 average. He had one home run and drove in three runs.
Hoffman appeared at all four infield positions and made his first career starts as a first baseman and designated hitter.
