POP LP CHART : Janet Jackson Spends Another Week at No. 1
- Share via
Janet Jackson seems fairly secure in the No. 1 position on the Billboard pop album chart with “Rhythm Nation 1814,” which is in its third week on top. The big news on the pop singles chart is that those torrid teen idols New Kids on the Block now have two singles in the Top 10 at the same time--”Cover Girl” (No. 3) and “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind)” (No. 9). This is one of rarest--and most impressive--feats in all of pop chartdom.
* Linda Ronstadt’s “Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind” is headed for the pop Top 10. This album, featuring Aaron Neville, shot up to No. 20 in four weeks, a rapid rise for a collection of ballads. The album’s first single, “Don’t Know Much,” is No. 18 and also Top-10 bound.
