Robinson, Zimmer Get Managers’ Votes

ST. LOUIS — Frank Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles and Don Zimmer of the Chicago Cubs were named major-league managers of the year, the Sporting News said today.
Robinson received nine of 13 votes cast by participating American League managers, the St. Louis-based publication said. Oakland’s Tony LaRussa was the runner-up with three votes.
Zimmer received 10 of 11 votes cast by National League managers. St. Louis’ Whitey Herzog received one vote; one manager abstained.
