YORBA LINDA : Outstanding Foster Parents Commended

The City Council has proclaimed November Foster Family Recruitment Month in an attempt to raise public awareness of the critical need for foster families.
As part of the campaign, the council commended residents Ruth Hanning and Linda and Richard Smith as outstanding foster parents.
Hanning has cared for 12 foster children and served as a member of the Foster Care Speakers’ Bureau, which is active in recruiting participants for the program.
The Smiths, who have been foster parents since 1985, have cared for 22 children and have also acted on the bureau. Mayor Henry W. Wedaa said the Smiths have significantly “improved foster care for victimized children.”
