EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants place-kicker Raul Allegre has pain in his kicking thigh, and former Giants kicker Ali Haji-Sheikh was brought in for a tryout, Coach Bill Parcells said today.
Parcells did not know the exact nature of the pain in Allegre’s right thigh but said it dated to the Dallas game Oct. 1. The coach did not know if the injury would prevent Allegre from playing Sunday against Seattle.
Backup kicker Bjorn Nittmo had been let go to allow linebacker Steve DeOssie to return from the injured reserve list. Teams can’t have more than 53 players practicing at any one time. Nittmo was reinstated today to the six-man developmental squad.
