Gradco Buys Conographic in Irvine

IRVINE — Gradco Systems Inc., an Irvine-based vendor of paper-handling machinery, announced Thursday that it has bought a majority interest in Conographic Inc., also of Irvine. Terms were not disclosed.

Conographic, a privately held firm employing about 20 people, specializes in developing desktop publishing technology, including both software and hardware designed for controllers, scanners and interpreters.

Gradco said the acquisition will allow it to deliver advanced publishing solutions to its customers, who include major copier and printer manufacturers.

Conographic will remain an operating subsidiary with its own sales, marketing and product development activities, Gradco said, and President Luis Villalobos will remain in his post.
