SANTA ANA — A postal worker was killed Tuesday when his motorcycle crashed on a street here, police said.
Dennis Wayne Hill, 32, of Santa Ana apparently lost control of the motorcycle about 7:15 a.m. as he rode west in the 3400 block of West MacArthur Boulevard, police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said.
Witnesses told police that Hill appeared to be riding faster than the speed limit when his motorcycle jumped the curb, clipped a utility pole and crashed into a mailbox. Thomas said the man was believed to have been riding to work at a post office in Huntington Beach.
Even though he wore a helmet, Hill sustained major head injuries and was dead on arrival at a Fountain Valley hospital, she said.
