Acquisition of A. H. Robins Completed: American Home Products Corp. completed its acquisition of A. H. Robins Co., closing the $3-million merger and marking the end of the Robins family’s operation of the pharmaceutical giant. The merger was handled in a $900-million stock swap for Robins shareholders and allows the Richmond, Va.-based firm to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It also establishes a $2.3-billion trust fund for women injured by the Dalkon Shield birth control device.
