Meldrick Taylor cleared the last obstacle for his March 17 junior welterweight title unification bout against Julio Cesar Chavez by stopping Ramon Flores in one round in Atlantic City, N. J.
Taylor (24-0-1), the International Boxing Federation champion, knocked Flores down twice with a left hook. Although Flores (21-7-1) rose on three for both knockdowns, referee Ted Pick halted the bout.
