NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Stewart Copeland, formerly of the rock band Police, said he listened to hundreds of tapes before he heard the voice that sounded right for his new band, Animal Logic.
Deborah Holland, a previously unknown piano teacher who grew up in New Jersey, is the woman behind the voice.
“When I heard that voice and those songs, I ripped off all my clothes and went running down Sunset Boulevard shouting ‘Eureka!’ ” Copeland said.
Acclaimed jazz bassist Stanley Clarke rounds out the band, known for its songs, “There’s a Spy in the House of Love” and “Firing Up the Sunset Gun.”
