LOCAL : Man Kills Wife, Then Himself

A man shot and killed his wife early today in their mid-city apartment, reported the slaying to police and then fatally shot himself, police said.

Neither the man nor the woman who died in the incident after midnight were immediately identified, pending notification of their relatives. Both were believed to be in their 50s.

The man called the 911 emergency line about 12:40 a.m., saying he had shot his wife and was going to kill himself. He then hung up. Police and paramedics sent to the apartment at 716 S. Harvard Blvd. found the two bodies. No motive for the murder-suicide had been determined, police said.
