Chamorro’s Upset Win in Nicaragua

I heartily congratulate Violeta Barrios de Chamorro on her landslide victory in Nicaragua (Part A, Feb. 26-27). Let’s hope that this will silence all those left-wing high-profile bleaters from California’s high-rent district who have claimed for so long that Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Oliver North and the Contras were the real enemies. The people have spoken!
President Bush has enjoyed some remarkable successes since he has been in office, but the groundwork for these enormous successes in the area of foreign policy was laid by Reagan. To think otherwise is to have one’s head in the sand. Apparently the only place in the world that is out of step with the mood of the times is our Democrat-controlled Congress.
