The city has appointed three officials to serve on a countywide task force that will research the feasibility of building single room occupancy housing for the homeless.
Joining the task force will be Councilman William D. Ehrle and Eric Nicoll and Bertha Chavoya of the city’s Community Development Department.
To date, representatives of 17 Orange County cities and county government have joined the task force, which has held informal meetings and is in the early stages of research.
Santa Ana Mayor Daniel H. Young has set a goal of building one housing project of at least 200 units in each Orange County city.
