Charles Sofro, 73, co-founder with his brother, David, of the House of Fabrics, a nationwide chain of 628 retail fabric stores that began with a small remnants shop in Massachusetts in 1932 and came to Los Angeles in 1946. Sofro became president of the company in 1978 and served on the board of directors until his death. In Beverly Hills on Saturday of cancer.
