U.S. to Begin Removing Nerve Gas in Germany

BONN — The removal of U.S. chemical weapons from German soil will begin this summer and transporting the more than 100,000 shells will pose no danger to the public, American and West German officials said today.
Defense Minister Gerhard Stoltenberg detailed plans for a massive, high-security transport of the nerve gas weapons, which have been stored in this country for more than 20 years.
