Nudists Told Their Beach Is for the Birds

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — The endangered piping plover will now have free reign at Moonstone Beach, which is bad news for nudists and townspeople who used the clothing-optional beach.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Tuesday that it will cancel the town’s lease for the beach and erect a fence so close to the water that people will effectively be kept away.
The wildlife service said that the measures are needed to protect the plover.
