Police are searching for a man who walked into a Mission Valley bank Thursday talking to himself, and left with more than $300 of the bank’s money.
The man walked through the south entrance of Wells Fargo Bank in the 100 block of Camino de la Reina at about 11:25 a.m., police spokesman Bill Robinson said. Customers reported hearing the man mumble, “I wish I had brought my gun,” before writing a note on a bank form demanding money.
He gave a teller the note, which said, “This is a bank robbery, empty your drawer,” Robinson said. He then told the teller to give him all her $100 bills.
When the teller replied that she didn’t have any $100 bills, he told her he didn’t want to kill her, Robinson said. The teller ended up giving the robber $313. He was last seen walking through a parking lot near Interstate 8.
The robber was described as white, in his mid-30s, 5-foot-8, blue-eyed and of slight build. He was unshaven and had straight, neck-length gray hair. He was wearing a dark blue jacket and faded jeans.
