Castle Park 11, Southwest 7--Southwest (2-7, 0-1) rallied late, but Castle Park (6-3, 1-0) held on. Jackie Sosa hit a three-run homer to give the Trojans an early 7-1 lead.
Montgomery 3, Bonita Vista 0--Sophomore David Silvas (3-0) threw a three-hit shutout for Montgomery (7-3, 1-0).
City Central League
Crawford 16, Lincoln 0--Chris Townsend had more hits and runs in four at-bats than he allowed Lincoln in seven innings. The senior pitcher got three hits and scored twice and permitted Lincoln (5-5, 1-2) just two hits in the shutout.
Still, Townsend was somewhat upstaged by freshman Johnny Verdin, who was playing in his first high school game. Verdin drove in five runs with a single, a double and a homer for Crawford (7-2, 2-1).
Madison 9, Hoover 1--Lamont Allen went three for four, and Robby Hoffman was three for three with three RBIs for Madison (5-5, 1-1). Madison’s Mike Jones (2-3) threw a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Hoover fell to 3-6, 0-2.
City Eastern League
Mira Mesa 11, Serra 4--Mira Mesa’s Phillip Henry had a three-run single in the second, and the Marauders (11-0) took advantage of eight Serra errors.
City Harbor League
St. Augustine 14, Marian Catholic 4--Roger Alvarez struck out nine and was three for three with a home run, a double and five RBIs for St. Augustine (3-6, 2-1). Jose Imiguez homered and drove in all four RBIs for Marian (4-4, 1-2).
Clairemont 12, Christian 5--Oscar Sanchez went two for two, drove in two runs and scored two runs. He also picked up his first save, pitching the last two innings for Clairemont (5-5, 2-0).
City Western League
Mission Bay 11, Kearny 1--Mike Lowry led Mission Bay (3-6, 2-1) with three hits, including a home run, and had three RBIs. Kearny fell to 6-5, 1-2.
Coastal League
Julian 13, La Jolla Country Day 7--Travis Denmark (5-0) struck out nine and survived nine errors. Jonas Fraser went two for two with six RBIs for Julian (7-0, 2-0).
Nonleague
San Diego 5, Coronado 1--Josh Stepner went two for four to lead San Diego (7-2).
Point Loma 12, University City 1--Point Loma (7-5, 4-1) loaded the bases in the fourth, and Mike Williams cleared them with a triple.
Midway Baptist 12, Santa Fe Christian 2--Winning pitcher Steve Smith went two for three with three RBIs for Midway (9-1).
