Mexican Art Exhibit to Open: The first comprehensive exhibit of Mexican art to be shown in the United States since before World War II will open at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Oct. 10 and travel later to San Antonio, Tex., and Los Angeles, it was announced Monday. Philippe de Montebello, director of the Met, said more than 400 works from public and private collections in Mexico, Europe and the United States will be displayed at the museum through Jan. 13, 1991. The show will trace 30 centuries of visual arts in Mexico, from 1000 BC to 1950.
