Bob Davis, the defensive coordinator at Palm Springs High, has accepted the head football coaching position at Torrey Pines High, Falcon Athletic Director Anne Meigs said Monday.
Davis had been offered the job, previously held by Rik Haines, last Thursday. Davis brings an 85-56 record from six previous coaching jobs to Torrey Pines, which was 2-8 in 1989. Haines, who coached the Falcons for five years, took an assistant position at the University of Washington.
Davis’ son Chad, a 6-foot-2 quarterback, passed for 2,885 yards last season. He will be a junior next season at Torrey Pines. In two years, he led Palm Springs to an 18-4 mark and two Southern Section Ivy League titles.
