THE SIDELINES : Altman Fills 2 Coaching Posts

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Dana Altman, named head basketball coach at Kansas State last week, completed his full-time coaching staff quickly by hiring two assistants this week.
Altman announced the hiring Monday of Jim Kerwin, an assistant at Oklahoma for six years, and added Ken Turner, 44, an assistant at South Alabama, today. Turner’s main responsibility at South Alabama was recruiting.
Turner was an assistant at Oklahoma State from 1978-82 and spent one year at Mississippi before going to Cincinnati as the top assistant for six years. He had been at South Alabama for one season.
