Ex-Sen. Chiles May Run

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Former Democratic Sen. Lawton Chiles has expressed interest in running for the governorship, now held by Republican Bob Martinez, and that concerns his fellow Democrat, Rep. Bill Nelson, who so far is the front-runner on their party’s side.
Chiles, 60, retired from the Senate in January, 1989, after 18 years.
