Cypress Wins Visalia Softball Tournament

Collene Conahan hit a grand slam and Sally Dugas got her fourth victory in two days as Cypress College defeated Moorpark, 9-1, Tuesday in the championship game of the Visalia softball tournament that was shortened by the mercy rule.
Conahan, who was named to the all-tournament team, hit her home run in the third inning to give Cypress (31-4) a 6-0 lead.
Dugas (16-2), the tournament’s most valuable player and pitcher, allowed two hits in three innings. Teresa Anderson, who went two for three with an run batted in and a stolen base, also was named to the all-tournament team.
